Palace struck first when Ismaïla Sarr broke through Liverpool’s defence to slot home an early opener, giving the home side the perfect start. Liverpool struggled to find their rhythm in the first half, as Palace’s defensive organisation and quick counters kept them at bay.
The visitors eventually found their equaliser in the 87th minute, when Federico Chiesa capitalised on a poor clearance to fire past Dean Henderson, seemingly rescuing a point for Slot’s side. However, just as Liverpool looked set to extend their unbeaten run, Nketiah struck in added time to restore Palace’s lead and seal all three points.
Liverpool enjoyed long spells of possession and created several opportunities, but wasteful finishing combined with Henderson’s strong goalkeeping performance left them frustrated. Despite their late push, Palace’s resilience ensured that the Reds could not mount a successful comeback.
