Manchester City Thrash Burnley 5-1 as Haaland Scores Twice and Esteve Nets Two Own Goals

Manchester City delivered a dominant performance on Saturday, sealing a 5-1 victory over Burnley in the Premier League.
The game began in dramatic fashion as Burnley’s goalkeeper Martin Dubravka failed to deal with a shot, and defender Maxime Esteve accidentally diverted the rebound into his own net to hand City an early advantage. Despite the setback, Burnley responded before halftime when Jaidon Anthony’s effort took a deflection and found the back of the net, bringing the visitors level.

City came out strongly after the break and quickly reasserted control. Matheus Nunes restored their lead with a close-range finish following fine play from Erling Haaland. Burnley’s misfortune continued as Esteve was once again on the wrong end of an own goal, giving City a two-goal cushion.

In the final minutes, Haaland showcased his clinical finishing, netting twice—once in the 90th minute and again in stoppage time—to put the result beyond doubt.

The win showed City’s ruthless attacking depth and ability to capitalize on opponents’ mistakes, while Burnley were left frustrated by two own goals that heavily influenced the outcome.
