Wissa had been vocal about his desire to join the Magpies, even taking to social media to express frustration over stalled negotiations earlier in the summer. After multiple rejected bids, Newcastle finally reached an agreement with Brentford, securing Wissa’s signature just seconds before the transfer window closed.
The Congolese international, who netted 19 Premier League goals last season, is expected to play a key role in Newcastle’s revamped attack. His arrival follows the club’s acquisition of German striker Nick Woltemade, as manager Eddie Howe looks to rebuild his frontline after the departures of both Isak and Callum Wilson.
Speaking to the club’s media team, Wissa expressed his excitement about the move, saying, “I’m really happy to be here and to sign for one of the biggest clubs in the Premier League. I’ve got dreams, I’ve got faith, and now I will do my best to make it all happen.”
