Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has confirmed that goalkeeper Alisson Becker will miss Saturday’s Premier League encounter against Chelsea after sustaining an injury during the midweek Champions League defeat to Galatasaray.
“It is never a positive sign when a player has to go off like this,” Slot said after the match. “Alisson will not be available to play on Saturday.”
The Brazilian international was forced off in the second half of Liverpool’s 1-0 loss to Galatasaray, with Victor Osimhen scoring the decisive goal from the penalty spot. Summer signing Giorgi Mamardashvili replaced Alisson for the remainder of the game, but the Reds were unable to find an equaliser.
Slot expressed concern over the nature of the injury, explaining that Alisson felt discomfort while sprinting back into position. “Normally, when a player goes down in that way, it is serious. Unfortunately, he will not recover in time for the Chelsea match,” the manager added.
