Early in the match, Haaland missed a penalty that was retaken, with Israel goalkeeper Daniel Peretz denying both attempts. The opening goal came in the 18th minute: Alexander Sorloth delivered a low cross from the flank that deflected off Israel forward Anan Khalaili and looped into the net for an own goal. Nine minutes later, in the 27th minute, Haaland doubled the lead by finishing a through-ball from Sorloth. Just a minute after that, Israel conceded another own goal when a panicked clearance from Peretz struck defender Idan Nachmias and rolled into the goal.
In the second half, Haaland scored twice more. In the 63rd minute, he headed in Antonio Nusa’s cross for his 50th goal for Norway. Then nine minutes later, in the 72nd minute, he converted a very similar move to complete his hat-trick and seal the emphatic victory.
With the win, Norway remain undefeated in Group I (six wins from six), and now sit just one step away from qualifying for their first World Cup since 1998.
