Inter Miami CF forward Lionel Messi has been awarded the 2025 MLS Golden Boot presented by Audi, following a record-setting season in which he scored 29 goals across 28 regular-season matches. This marks Messi’s first Golden Boot win in Major League Soccer and makes him the first Argentine player to claim the honor since Valentín “Taty” Castellanos in 2021.
Messi’s prolific campaign was capped off in spectacular fashion during Inter Miami’s 5-2 Decision Day triumph over Nashville SC, held on Saturday, October 18. The legendary No. 10 delivered a hat trick and added an assist, bringing his season tally to 48 goal contributions—just one shy of Carlos Vela’s all-time MLS record of 49 set in 2019.
His closest competitors, Denis Bouanga of LAFC and Sam Surridge of Nashville SC, each finished with 24 goals, underscoring Messi’s dominance in front of goal. Beyond scoring, Messi also led the league in assists, further solidifying his impact on Inter Miami’s third-place finish in the Eastern Conference.
With the regular season concluded, Inter Miami now turns its focus to the MLS Cup Playoffs, where Messi’s form will be pivotal in their pursuit of championship glory.
