Maresca said, “Liam completed the whole session with us yesterday with no problems and he is available for tomorrow. But 90 minutes, not yet. He’s been out for two months and has to be managed well now.”
Delap recently recovered from a hamstring injury sustained during Chelsea’s 2–0 win over Fulham on August 30, 2025. The 22-year-old striker was forced off just 13 minutes into the match, and the injury initially sidelined him for around two months. Reports indicate that Delap missed 15 matches and was out for 84 days before making his return to full training.
Since joining Chelsea from Ipswich Town in June 2025, Delap has made three Premier League appearances, playing a total of 93 minutes without scoring or providing an assist.
Chelsea will travel to face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Carabao Cup fourth round, where Delap could make his return to competitive action as Maresca carefully manages his recovery and gradual reintegration into the squad.
