William Troost-Ekong opened the scoring for Nigeria in the 55th minute from the penalty spot after a foul inside the box. Akor Adams then doubled the lead in the 80th minute with a powerful finish from a Victor Osimhen assist. Lesotho pulled one back through Hlompho Kalake in the 83rd minute after a defensive lapse, but Nigeria held firm to secure all three points.
The result leaves Nigeria closer to the top of Group C, although they remain behind Benin and South Africa on points. With only the group winner gaining automatic qualification for the 2026 World Cup, their final group match against Benin will be decisive for their campaign.
Despite late pressure from Lesotho, the Super Eagles showed resilience and determination to see out the win, reigniting hope among fans after a mixed qualifying run.
