Referees, Players Assaulted as Kano Pillars Fans Storm Field in NPFL Clash

Supporters of Kano Pillars invaded the field following their Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) match against Shooting Stars (3SC) on Sunday, October 12, at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
The disturbance erupted immediately after Adams Mustapha scored a 94th-minute equaliser for Shooting Stars, cancelling out an early strike by Mustapha Jibrin in the ninth minute.

Angry fans overwhelmed security, charging at the match officials, and some also attacked players and staff from the visiting team. Several referees and officials were assaulted with projectiles and punches. Some 3SC players and officials were also caught in the chaos, with Ismail Ayodele and Adams Agba’a reportedly sustaining head injuries.

Security forces resorted to tear gas to disperse the invaders and restore order, even as players and officials retreated to safety.
