Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan took to social media to assert her resilience just hours after Senate President, Godswill Akpabio, read her letter inviting him and other Senators to her second-year anniversary in office celebration.

The letter, personally signed by Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan, invited the Senate leadership and her colleagues to attend the commissioning of constituency projects in her district in Kogi State, as part of the celebration marking her two years in the Senate. It stated: “In marking my second-year anniversary as serving Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, I wish to invite my distinguished colleagues to join me for project commissioning in Kogi State.”

During plenary, Senator Akpabio read the letter aloud in the chamber — a moment seen by many as symbolic, given that the same venue was where he had previously vowed she would never return to.

Following the reading, Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan posted a video of the session on her Instagram page, highlighting the significance of the moment. In her caption, she subtly reminded her followers of her political journey and the challenges she had overcome to reclaim her position.
She also replied to a follower who commented that she should not “remove her leg from the neck of her enemies,” a local expression meaning she should continue to press on against her detractors. Through this exchange, the senator appeared to reaffirm her determination to persist in her political career despite opposition.
Senator Akpoti-Uduaghan also noted that despite her previous six-month suspension from the Senate, she remains fully committed to her legislative duties and constituency projects. She described the invitation to her anniversary celebration as both “customary” and “procedural,” reflecting her continued dedication to her office and the people she represents.
