Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have arrested two women in Benin City for allegedly producing and distributing brownies infused with illicit drugs via online platforms.
The suspects, identified as 19-year-old Praise Nwogu—better known on TikTok as CandyTeddy—and 25-year-old Ebong Emem Oghosa, were taken into custody on Saturday, November 22, during a targeted operation in Nigeria's Edo State capital. Authorities accuse the pair of specializing in the creation and sale of these contaminated baked goods, which pose significant health risks due to their undisclosed narcotic content.
The arrests form part of a broader NDLEA crackdown on drug trafficking networks across the country, aimed at curbing the distribution of synthetic substances like methamphetamine and cocaine, especially amid heightened activities during the festive season. Investigations are ongoing, with the agency emphasizing its commitment to dismantling online syndicates that exploit social media for illicit trade.
