Daddy Freeze Publicly Urges Intervention for Rapper Jesse Jagz Amid Escalating Feud Over 2Baba Defense

Daddy Freeze has called for urgent intervention on behalf of veteran Nigerian rapper Jesse Jagz, claiming the artist is in dire need of support following a contentious Instagram Live session and subsequent social media spat. The controversy, which began as a defense of music legend 2Baba Idibia's privacy, has now spotlighted broader concerns about mental health and substance use in Nigeria's entertainment industry.

The feud traces back to December 4, when Jesse Jagz, born Jesse Garba Abaga, unexpectedly joined Daddy Freeze's Instagram Live broadcast. During the session, the 41-year-old rapper unleashed a profanity-laced tirade against Freeze and other Nigerians for publicly dissecting 2Baba's alleged marital troubles with his wife, Annie Idibia. Jagz, visibly agitated and vowing to "physically drag" 2Baba from Abuja for a beer to lift his spirits, described the singer as a "legend" deserving protection from public scrutiny. His outburst came just a day after 2Baba himself pleaded with fans to halt the "dangerous" online hate directed at his family, emphasizing the potential real-world harm it could cause.

What began as a passionate advocacy for a fellow artist's personal boundaries quickly unraveled. On December 8, Daddy Freeze, whose real name is Ifedayo Olarinde, took to social media to share voice notes and screenshots from private communications with Jagz. According to Freeze, the rapper had eagerly sought to join the Live via direct messages, repeatedly calling and sending distressed audio clips pleading for airtime. In one note, Jagz reportedly said, "Uncle Daddy, please, tomorrow I’m bringing some Idoma people there… If we allow 2Baba to go through this, God will punish all Nigerian artists."

However, Freeze recounted waking up to an "insulting tweet" from Jagz that morning, which read: "Good Morning Sir @DaddyFRZ Without Due Respect, YOUR PAPA NYASH!" In response, Freeze released a video statement urging compassion over confrontation. "Jesse Jagz, joke apart, you need help. You need help even more than the 2Baba," he said, attributing Jagz's behavior to the "hard drugs" ravaging the industry. Freeze, a longtime critic of celebrity gossip, framed the incident as a wake-up call, stating that many entertainers are "struggling with different substance-related issues" and that "honest conversations" must replace silence.

Jagz, a pioneering figure in Nigerian hip-hop known for his work with Chocolate City and his independent label Jagz Nation, has largely maintained a low profile in recent years, focusing on production and occasional releases like his 2020 EP *Garba*. His unfiltered appearance on Freeze's platform left viewers "traumatized," sparking widespread concern online. Social media reactions ranged from empathy—"Jesse needs real help, not more drama"—to criticism, with some labeling him a "drug addict" and questioning his mental state.

This isn't the first time Freeze has waded into industry wellness debates. Just days prior, after separate interviews with 2Baba and Jagz, he expressed broader alarm: "I'm truly worried about this generation," citing a perceived "drug epidemic" among artists.
