The motive behind the shooting is currently unknown, but police are investigating the possibility of a link to hijacked buildings in the area, as Warras was involved in managing and inspecting properties through his security company.
Tributes have poured in from friends, colleagues, and fans, remembering Warras as a loving, compassionate, and friendly person. His sister Nicole described him as "broken" and "shattered" by the loss, while businessman Rob Hersov praised Warras as a "most loving, compassionate, friendly, honest, open, and decent human being".
Warras' death has sparked an outpouring of grief and concern about the rising violence faced by public figures in South Africa. He is survived by his three sons.
