Enzo Maresca Updates on Romeo Lavia's Injury Status ahead of Chelsea Clash this weekend

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has provided an update on the injury status of midfielder Romeo Lavia, who suffered a muscular problem during the team's Champions League match against Qarabag.

"It's a muscular problem, and we don't know yet when he can be back," Maresca said, adding that it's unclear whether it's a short-term or long-term injury.

Lavia, who has struggled with injuries since joining Chelsea from Southampton in 2023, has made just 30 appearances for the Blues. His latest injury is expected to be out for at least a month, with Lavia having missed a total of 78 matches since signing with Chelsea in 2023.

Maresca emphasized the importance of protecting Lavia's health, stating, "I would like to have Romeo on the pitch always, but it's my duty to protect him".

Chelsea's last match was a 3-1 loss to Leeds United in the Premier League. This match was a major setback for Chelsea's title hopes, and they slipped to fourth place in the standings
