The tournament will feature 16 teams and will play out across eight venues in Germany. Confirmed host cities include Munich, Dortmund, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hanover, Cologne, Leipzig and Wolfsburg.
This will mark a significant moment for women’s football in Germany — it is the third time the country will stage the Women’s European Championship, after hosting in 1989 and 2001. The DFB’s bid emphasised not only the strength of its stadium infrastructure and logistics, but also the growing popularity of women’s football and a commitment to deliver a top-level tournament.
Officials have projected that the 2029 tournament could attract more than one million spectators across the 31 matches — a target that reflects both confidence in fan demand and ambition to set new attendance and engagement records for the competition.
