Israel DMW Throws Shade at Wizkid as Davido Fulfills ₦20M Promise to Carter Efe: "Cut Your Promise According to Your Net Worth"

On Christmas Eve 2025, Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido once again proved why fans call him "001" in generosity by fulfilling a promise to gift popular content creator and comedian Carter Efe a whopping ₦20 million. The gesture came weeks after Davido appeared on Carter Efe's record-breaking Twitch livestream, where the singer had casually pledged the sum. Carter Efe, known for his energetic skits and music, went into overdrive with excitement upon receiving the alert, sharing screenshots and dramatic reactions that quickly went viral across social media platforms.

The gift not only highlighted Davido's reputation for lavish philanthropy but also boosted Carter Efe's profile further. Their livestream had already shattered records, making Carter Efe Africa's most-followed streamer on Twitch and drawing massive viewership. Davido's act reinforced his image as a reliable and big-hearted figure in the industry, often going out of his way to support upcoming talents and friends.

However, the celebration took a controversial turn when Davido's loyal logistics manager and aide, Israel DMW (real name Israel Afeare), posted a subtle but pointed shade on X (formerly Twitter). In his tweet, Israel boasted: "My oga don fulfill his 20M promise. Their oga never fulfill 100M wey he promise those kids for Surulere. Cut ur promise according to your net worth 😂"

The "my oga" clearly refers to Davido, praising him for keeping his word on the ₦20 million to Carter Efe. "Their oga," on the other hand, is widely interpreted as a jab at Wizkid (Ayodeji Balogun), Davido's longtime rival in the Afrobeats scene. The reference points back to December 2023, when Wizkid announced a generous ₦100 million Christmas giveaway to children in Surulere and Makoko, Lagos, in honor of his late mother, Juliana Morayo Balogun. Wizkid was spotted in videos distributing cash in those areas, fulfilling the pledge through direct handouts accompanied by heavy security.

Yet, over the years, some critics and online commentators have questioned whether the full ₦100 million was distributed as promised, with occasional calls from figures like activist VeryDarkMan highlighting it as "unfulfilled." Israel DMW's post revives this narrative, implying Wizkid overpromised beyond his means while contrasting it with Davido's consistent follow-through.

This isn't Israel DMW's first time wading into the Davido-Wizkid rivalry. He has previously shaded Wizkid on issues like self-proclaimed titles ("001" of Afrobeats) and music releases. Fans from both camps quickly polarized: 30BG (Davido's fanbase) hailed Israel for defending their favorite, while Wizkid FC accused him of unnecessary provocation and dragging an old, fulfilled gesture.
