Manchester United Held to Frustrating 1‑1 Draw by Struggling Wolves at Old Trafford

On Tuesday, December 30, 2025, **Manchester United were held to a frustrating 1‑1 draw at Old Trafford by bottom‑placed Wolverhampton Wanderers in their final Premier League match of the year. Despite United being heavy favourites and dominating large portions of the game, they failed to secure all three points against a side with just a handful of points to their name this season.
United took the lead in the 27th minute through Joshua Zirkzee, who capitalised on a loose ball in the Wolves box after some good pressing from United’s midfield. The strike took a slight deflection on its way past goalkeeper José Sá, giving the home side the advantage and lifting the early spirits inside Old Trafford.

However, United’s control of the match was short‑lived. Just before half‑time, Ladislav Krejci rose highest from a set‑piece situation to head home Wolves’ equaliser, catching United’s defence off‑guard and punishing a rare lapse in concentration for the hosts. This goal not only brought Wolves level but completely shifted the momentum as halftime approached.

The second half saw Rúben Amorim’s side continue to enjoy the better of the chances, especially as United struggled to convert possession into genuine opportunities. Wolves, who had endured a historically poor campaign and entered the game as the league’s bottom side, showed organisation and resilience that belied their position in the table.

United repeatedly threatened to regain the lead but were let down by a lack of cutting edge in the final third. Benjamin Sesko and Patrick Dorgu both spurned key chances, with Dorgu even seeming to head past Sá in the 90th minute, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside after a VAR check.

In goal, Wolves’ José Sá made a couple of crucial saves to keep the score level, while United goalkeeper Senne Lammens also produced important stops when called upon. The game ultimately ended 1‑1, leaving United fans frustrated at the inability of their side to break down a defensive low‑block and capitalise on their superior possession and chance creation.

The draw means Manchester United remain sixth in the Premier League table, still chasing positions that would secure European football, but the result does little to inspire confidence given the opposition’s struggles this season. Wolves, by contrast, leave Old Trafford having earned just their third point of the campaign
