The Miss Universe Organization (MUO) has issued a detailed update on the severe injuries sustained by Dr. Gabrielle Alexis Henry, Miss Jamaica, following a dramatic fall during the pageant's preliminary competition in Bangkok on November 19, 2025.
In a joint statement released on December 8, the organization and Henry's family disclosed that the 28-year-old contestant suffered an intracranial hemorrhage accompanied by loss of consciousness, a fracture, facial lacerations, and other significant injuries. The incident occurred during the evening gown segment, when Henry fell through an opening on the elevated stage, a moment captured on video and shared widely across social media.
Henry was immediately transported to a local hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit, where she remained in critical condition under continuous neurological monitoring. She continues to require round-the-clock specialist supervision as part of her ongoing recovery.
"From the time the incident took place, the Miss Universe Organization has stood beside Gabrielle and her family as if she were their own, assuming full and immediate responsibility without hesitation," the statement read. The MUO has covered all hospital, medical, and rehabilitation expenses incurred during her treatment in Thailand, as well as accommodations and living costs for Henry's mother and sister, who traveled to Bangkok to support her. The organization is also funding her medically supervised repatriation flight.
Henry is scheduled to return to Jamaica in the coming days, where she will be transferred directly to a local hospital for continued care and rehabilitation. The statement emphasized that the MUO has never attributed any blame to Henry for the fall, dismissing media reports and social media speculation suggesting otherwise as "unfounded and not reflective of the facts."
The family expressed profound gratitude to the Jamaican public, the global Miss Universe community, and supporters worldwide for their outpouring of love and prayers. "We are deeply grateful to the Miss Universe Organization for their unwavering support," they said, adding that Henry's strength and resilience have been a source of inspiration during this challenging time.
