American Rapper DDG Links Up with Wizkid in Lagos

American rapper and popular streamer DDG Darryle Dwayne Granberry Jr.) recently linked up with Afrobeats icon Wizkid, creating a buzz across social media and music circles.
DDG, who proudly updated his bio to "30% Nigerian" after discovering his heritage, has been immersing himself in the country's vibrant culture during the extended Detty December festivities spilling into early 2026. The Pontiac, Michigan native arrived in Lagos amid the post-holiday energy, sharing glimpses of his trip and even commenting on Nigeria's relative safety compared to parts of the U.S.

The highlight came when DDG posted a casual club photo with Wizkid, captioned simply "ddg x wiz 🇳🇬." The image, taken in a dimly lit Lagos nightlife spot, shows the two artists chilling side by side—DDG fresh-faced and smiling, Wizkid in his signature laid-back vibe.

This meet-up quickly went viral, especially after DDG's recent Twitch stream with Nigerian comedian Carter Efe, where he listed favorites like Burna Boy, Davido, Rema, Asake, Shallipopi, and Tems—but notably omitted Wizkid, sparking playful online debates about whether he truly knew the "Starboy."

Fans were quick to point out the irony, with many celebrating it as DDG completing his "Nigerian Big 3" connections (having previously interacted with Burna Boy and praised Davido). Wizkid, fresh off his massive homecoming GOAT concert in late December 2025 and surprise appearances at events like Gunna's Detty December Fest show, continues to dominate Lagos scenes.
