Lionel Messi led Argentine players to celebrate in front of Netherlands players after penalty shoot out victory (Photos)

Argentina have advanced into the semi final stage of the ongoing FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar. 

This comes after Lionel Scaloni side recorded victory over Louis Van Gaal side after a penalty shoot out. 

Argentina goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez was the hero on the night after saving two penalties. 

Recall that Argentina knocked out the Oranje national team in a penalty shoot in the 2010 edition in South Africa. 

Argentina thought they had won the game with goals from Nahuel Molina and Lionel Messi entering the final minutes, it appeared as though they would win easily.

But late goals from Wout Weghorst forced extra time, which required penalties to decide between the two teams.

Emiliano Martinez had to stop two penalty kicks for Argentina to get to the semifinals.

 

Argentine players were seen celebrating in front of the Netherlands players who looked unhappy standing in th center circle. 

Lionel Messi who is the captain of Argentina's team led the rest of the players to celebrate over their hard fought victory. 

Argentina will now face Croatia in the semi final of the competition. Recall that Croatia knocked out Brazil in a penalty out.
