Martin Braithwaite, a former Barcelona striker, has revealed that when he first signed for Barcelona in 2020 that Lionel Messi made him feel at ease at Camp Nou.
The Denmark forward joined Barcelona from Leganes where he played for two seasons before joining Espanyol on a free transfer.
Braithwaite expressed this while reviewing his time sharing the changing area with Messi, who he feels is extremely sensible.
The 31-year-old also expressed his satisfaction with Messi's victory over Argentina in the 2022 FIFA World Cup earlier this month.
“When I signed for Barcelona, he was one of the first guys to come see me and ask me if everything was good,” Braithwaite told Football Espana.
“He made me feel comfortable at the club, and it shows that he is something that is really down to earth. Everyone knows who he’s, but in the dressing room, he’s completely calm and humble.”
Braithwaite was a partner with Messi at Barcelona before the seven-time Ballon d'Or champ left the Catalan club for PSG in the late spring of 2021.
He added, “I am happy for him. I think the World Cup was the only thing missing in his career and now he has done everything that you can do as a footballer.”
