Wayne Rooney, a former England striker, has admitted that he saved the match ball from Manchester United's Champions League final loss to Barcelona.
After the 2011 Champions League final at Wembley Stadium in London, Lionel Messi signed the ball, and Rooney said he had to retain it.
If you recall that Lionel Messi, Pedro, and David Villa scored goals for Barcelona in their 3-1 victory over Manchester United. While Rooney scored a consolation goal for the Red Devils.
According to Rooney, he said he took the match ball home after receiving Messi, Pedro, and Villa's autographs on it, despite losing the game.
“At the end, I grabbed the ball and sought out Lionel Messi, David Villa, and Pedro — Barcelona’s scorers,” Rooney penned in The Times.
“I got them to sign it and I still have the ball in my house.”
