The season is over for Paris Saint-Germain defender Presnel Kimpembe after he tore his Achilles against Marseille.
Less than 20 minutes into PSG's 3-0 victory over Marseille on Sunday, Kimpembe was stretchered off after falling while reversing. The player lay face down before being carried off on a stretcher, clearly in pain.
Following manager Christophe Galtier's admission that Kimpembe had torn his Achilles and wouldn't be able to play for the rest of the season, the team later confirmed the bad news.
With Bayern Munich leading 1-0 on the overall score after the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 matchup, it is a major setback for PSG.
Kimpembe has had a difficult season that has been hampered by numerous injuries. Due to a hamstring issue, he was unable to play for France in the World Cup and is now likely to miss the remainder of the season.
Depending on how bad the injury is, the center back will miss the remainder of the 2022–23 season and possibly some of the following one as well.
