Leandro Trossard was selected by Mikel Arteta for Arsenal's match against Leicester City, according to Danny Murphy of Match of the Day, who also claimed that the forward was aggressive throughout the 1-0 victory.

The Gunners continued to hold the lead in the standings. After Trossard's goal in the first half was disallowed, Gabriel Martinelli scored the game-winning goal at the King Power Stadium.

When he chose his team, Arteta somewhat caught everyone off guard. Eddie Nketiah was chosen behind the Belgian in the front. Nketiah had a minor injury for the game, the Arsenal manager noted. Giving Trossard a start, however, was still a significant decision.

In the end, Arteta's decision turned out to be very wise. Since his arrival in the January transfer window, Trossard played in one of his best games. Murphy added that his inclusion may have had a significant effect on the final score.

“It was a brave decision to play Trossard as a nine,” he told Match of the Day.

“It helped them control the game. They dominated possession without being a real threat, especially in the first-half. But he was reliable, he’s intelligent. He’s played this role once or twice for Brighton. We see him wide more often than not.

“He was just at it. He had a point to prove. I think it was a really clever selection from Arteta.”
