Gernot Rohr, a former Super Eagles head coach, has signed a three-year contract to manage the Benin Republic national team.
The Benin Football Federation will unveil Rohr at a press conference on Friday, as reported by La Nouvelle Tribune.
The former Benin international Moussa Latoundji will be replaced by the Franco-German, who has been in temporary charge of the Squirrels.
It has been learned that Rohr has previously led the national teams of Burkina Faso, Niger Republic, and Gabon.
First and foremost, the German tactician will need to assist Benin in qualifying for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2023.
Despite guiding the Super Eagles to the final qualifying round for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and helping them qualify for the Africa Cup of Nations in 2021, Rohr was fired by the Nigeria Football Federation, or NFF, in December 2021.
