Victor Lindelof's performance for Manchester United against Brighton in the FA Cup semifinal may have decided Erik ten Hag's future move before this summer.

Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez' injury have given the Sweden international a chance in the center of defense.

In the crushing 3-0 loss against Sevilla on Thursday, which eliminated Ten Hag's team from the Europa League at the semi-final stage, he began alongside Harry Maguire.

However, Lindelof started the FA Cup semifinal match at Wembley against Brighton while Maguire was benched.

Over the course of the whole 90 minutes and the extra time, he was an important player for United and contributed to his team's clean sheet.

And in the subsequent penalty shootout, he maintained calmness from the spot and calmly put his shot into the corner to guarantee United's first FA Cup final berth since 2016.

In comparison to Maguire, it is Sunday's performance that may determine if he stays at the club through this summer.

According to a Friday article by Jamie Jackson of The Guardian, at least 15 United players' careers will be in jeopardy this summer.

Although he said that the club's two out-of-contract players, Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe, will undoubtedly go, no decisions have yet been made on the other players who will leave Old Trafford.

Additionally, it was said that Lindelof and Maguire may quit the team but that Ten Hag would not approve their departures owing to the difficulty in finding two center backs who might strengthen the team. Harry Kane of Tottenham is a striker that United are considering signing, although he would cost more than £100 million.

Due to Lindelof's Wembley performance, Maguire may have fallen behind him in the pecking order, thus pushing the England captain closer to the exit.

The Swede has already claimed that he would think about his options this summer owing to a lack of first team chances, but if Varane and Martinez are back to full health, he may still decide to go.
