Harry Kane's potential departure from Tottenham Hotspur and move to Manchester United this summer has received a new update from Fabrizio Romano. After Spurs' 6-1 loss to Newcastle in the Premier League on Sunday, in which the England international scored a consolation goal in the second half, speculation over Kane's future has grown even more. The assumption is "increasing," according to The Telegraph, that he won't agree to new terms with the club before his contract ends next summer. Kane's future has now been updated by Romano, who previously said that the 29-year-old was the club's priority summer transfer target. He asserts that Spurs wish to begin talks with the striker, but that Kane's choice to remain or depart will be much influenced by the future plans that Spurs make available. Romano, in an interview with The United Stand, said that Spurs' initiative would be crucial in persuading their star player to stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Antonio Conte was chosen as the club's manager by club chairman Daniel Levy last season, and the Italian led the team to an outstanding top-four finish and Champions League qualifying. Spurs, however, have struggled with consistency this year, as they were eliminated at the last 16 stage in Europe's premier continental tournament. In March, Cristian Stellini, Conte's deputy manager, took over as manager. The club may not have a permanent manager as the offseason approaches if Spurs are really actively reviewing Stellini's future after the 6-1 loss to Newcastle. Romano explained: "It's going to be important what kind of project Spurs will put on the table. They will discuss with Harry Kane and his agents to understand the player's position. "It's going to be really important what Tottenham want to do for the future. For the next season and for the future in general. "For Kane, this is the situation. Waiting on Tottenham, and it's not going to be easy at all [for United] because Daniel Levy remains determined to keep the player - after this kind of difficult season it is important for Tottenham to send a message to the fans, and keeping Kane is one of the priorities."
