The Mail Online reported on Saturday morning that Firmino, whose contract expires at the conclusion of the current campaign, has decided to join La Liga powerhouse Barcelona.
Romano, a transfer expert, rejected such ideas, stating that nothing had yet been decided between Firmino and Barcelona.
The journalist tweeted: "Understand there’s nothing agreed or signed between Roberto Firmino and Barcelona at this stage. #FCB
"It’s not even advanced deal — just name discussed internally. Barça priorities are Iñigo, Gündogan, of course Messi.
"Firmino, still exploring options — no decision made yet."
Despite Liverpool's best efforts to keep Firmino, he will finish his illustrious eight-year tenure at Anfield at the conclusion of the current campaign.
The 31-year-old was instrumental in the club's victories in the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup, and Club World Cup since his £29 million transfer from Hoffenheim in 2015. However, he is no longer a regular starter for Jurgen Klopp's squad.
Klopp did say he would have like to retain the attacker last month, but the Brazilian is said to be looking for a new challenge.
