Sterling and Ward-Prowse are urged by Rio Ferdinand to quit international football after latest England snub
Rio Ferdinand thinks that after being left out of England's most recent team, Raheem Sterling and James Ward-Prowse should seriously consider quitting international football.
Last week, Gareth Southgate selected a 26-man team to play Scotland and Ukraine; despite having great starts to the season, Sterling and Ward-Prowse were both left out.
While Ward-Prowse has already scored and provided three assists for high-flying West Ham since his summer transfer from Southampton, Sterling has been a star player for Chelsea this season, scoring twice against Luton lately.
However, Southgate continued to pass them over while calling up Harry Maguire and Kalvin Phillips despite their relative lack of playing time at Manchester United and Manchester City.
Ferdinand believes that Sterling and Ward-Prowse should resign from international service in response to the rejection.
Given how much Southgate has relied on Sterling over the years, his exclusion from the team was a huge shock.
The winger, who has 82 caps, was probably England's greatest player during their run to the Euro 2020 final and started Southgate's starting XI at last year's World Cup.
