Stanley Nwabali Reacts to Airport Incident Amid Super Eagles' Saga with Libya
Stanley Nwabali, the Nigerian Super Eagles goalkeeper, has stirred reactions among Nigerians and social media users after sharing his thoughts on a photo of himself sleeping on a chair at the Libyan international airport on Sunday night. Nwabali humorously tweeted, "Look at a whole chief. Make I reach village first. Thank God for safe landing."
This incident adds to the ongoing saga involving the Super Eagles and Libyan authorities. The Nigerian team was left stranded at Al Abraq Airport for over 15 hours after their flight was unexpectedly diverted, leading to their return to Nigeria.
In the first leg of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier, Nigeria emerged victorious over Libya with a narrow 1-0 win. Fisayo Dele-Bashiru scored the crucial goal in the 86th minute, securing the victory for the Super Eagles.
