Manchester City’s Rodri remains hopeful of returning this season after suffering a significant ACL injury during the club's 2-2 draw against Arsenal on September 22, 2024. The midfielder, known for his resilience and influence on the field, had to exit the game after an incident involving his right knee. Tests conducted shortly after confirmed the ACL tear, a setback that could potentially sideline him for the rest of the season.
Despite the usual recovery period for such an injury, Rodri expressed optimism regarding a possible return, stating, "I feel I can return already THIS season, yes. It’s possible, and I can make it happen." The Spanish international also highlighted the importance of a careful rehabilitation process, adding, "I’m recovering now, no pressure… it’s important to recover in the best way."
He remains focused on rejoining his team, especially with the extended schedule that includes the FIFA Club World Cup. "But the season is long, there’s the new Clubs’ World Cup… I can do it," Rodri shared.
However, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has expressed caution, acknowledging that ACL injuries typically demand a six- to nine-month recovery period, making Rodri’s return this season challenging.
