Arsenal captain Martin Ødegaard is set to join Norway's national team ahead of their November international break, as confirmed by Norway manager Ståle Solbakken.
Ødegaard has been recovering from an ankle injury that has sidelined him from recent club fixtures, including Arsenal's recent Champions League match against Inter Milan.
The Arsenal midfielder and captain made his first start since his recovery over the weekend in the Gunners Draw against Chelsea in Premier League.
Odegaard created the assist in the game for Gabriel Martinelli to score the opening goal in the 60th minute before Pedro Neto levelled ten minutes later.
However, Solbakken remains hopeful, explaining that the midfielder’s recovery is progressing according to plan. The final phase of Ødegaard’s rehabilitation involves team training and assessment of his response to these more intense sessions.
Norway has a challenging schedule ahead, facing Slovenia on November 14 and Kazakhstan on November 17. These matches are crucial for Norway’s Nations League ambitions, with a potential promotion to League A at stake. Ødegaard’s availability would be a significant boost for the Norwegian squad, given his leadership and playmaking skills.
