Barcelona expressed their frustration on Sunday night after what they believed to be a perfectly legitimate goal was ruled out for offside during their match against Real Sociedad.
The incident occurred in the 10th minute when Robert Lewandowski appeared to have given Barcelona the lead. However, a semi-automatic offside decision disallowed the goal following a lengthy delay. The graphic showing the offside was not displayed until five minutes later, and when it finally appeared, it showed a confusing image. The graphic mistakenly aligned Lewandowski's arm with that of Nayef Aguerd, leading many to question if the system had also confused their feet.
In a lighthearted response to the controversy, Barcelona's vice-captain, Raphinha, took to Instagram, posting an image of the offside decision alongside a picture of some comically large shoes. He tagged Lewandowski in the post, likely as a playful reference to the confusion surrounding the call.
Despite the uproar, the Referees Committee has stood by the decision, asserting that it was correct, though they have yet to release an image that justifies the ruling.
