Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman made a striking entrance at the 2024 CAF Awards ceremony, held at the Palais des Congres in Marrakech, Morocco, by donning a traditional agbada ensemble.
Additionally, Lookman was the only African player nominated for the 2024 Ballon d'Or, finishing in 14th position.
Lookman is among the final nominees for the prestigious African Player of the Year award, contending alongside Serhou Guirassy of Guinea, Achraf Hakimi of Morocco, Simon Adingra of Ivory Coast, and South Africa's Ronwen Williams.
His nomination follows an exceptional season with Atalanta BC, where he scored a hat-trick in the UEFA Europa League final, leading the team to a 3-0 victory over Bayer Leverkusen.
Additionally, Lookman was the only African player nominated for the 2024 Ballon d'Or, finishing in 14th position. In the current season, he has continued his impressive form, recording 11 goals and five assists in 18 appearances across all competitions for Atalanta.
His contributions were also pivotal in Nigeria's journey to the Africa Cup of Nations final, where he scored three goals and provided two assists.
As the CAF Awards ceremony unfolds, Lookman stands as a strong contender to succeed Victor Osimhen as Africa's premier footballer.
