The stampede occurred on Wednesday, December 18, at Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan, Oyo State, resulting in significant loss and grief.

In a statement issued by Otunba Moses Olafare, the Director of Media and Public Affairs at the Ooni’s Palace, the monarch extended his heartfelt condolences to the affected families. He remarked, "We share in the grief and pain that has overwhelmed these families. We pray that Olodumare grants them the strength to endure this challenging time."

The Ooni also expressed his sympathies to Agidigbo FM, owned by Oriyomi Hamzat, and the Women in Need of Guidance and Support (WINGS), an initiative led by Ms. Naomi Silekunola Ogunseyi. Both organizations played key roles in the event.
