Chelsea forward Mykhailo Mudryk has issued an official statement after being notified that a sample he provided to The Football Association (FA) tested positive for a banned substance.
In his statement, Mudryk expressed his surprise, stating, "This has come as a complete shock as I have NEVER knowingly used any banned substances or broken any rules, and am working closely with my team to investigate how this could have happened."
Mudryk maintained his innocence and reiterated his commitment to the sport, saying, "I know that I have not done anything wrong and remain hopeful that I will be back on the pitch soon." He also acknowledged the confidentiality of the ongoing investigation, adding, "I cannot say any more now due to the confidentiality of the process, but I will as soon as I can."
The specific banned substance has not been disclosed, and Mudryk is currently awaiting the results of the 'B' sample. The player's suspension follows a positive doping test, and should the 'B' sample confirm the findings, he could face a substantial ban. Mudryk's current absence from Chelsea's match-day squads since December 1 is reportedly due to illness.
