Martins Otse, a prominent social media commentator known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), recently shared a video from the Panti Police Station in Yaba, Lagos, explaining his visit in response to a petition alleging conspiracy and defamation.
VDM clarified that he was invited to the station and was not under arrest. VDM suspects Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo and her associate Paulo Okoye are behind the petition and stated he will continue his advocacy until they apologize.
In his video caption, he remarked, "A petition was written against me for alleged conspiracy of blah blah blah, as usual I suspect Paulo and Iyabo like I said until they beg me Aluta will continue, I no kuku send anybody papa."
This incident follows a previous controversy in October 2024, when VDM posted a video wearing a police uniform, introducing himself as CSP VeryDarkMan. The Nigeria Police Force condemned the unauthorized use of its uniform and initiated an investigation. VDM later apologized for the incident.
VDM has been involved in several legal matters, including a defamation case filed by Femi Falana, a prominent Nigerian lawyer, over alleged defamatory statements made by VDM. Falana issued a 24-hour ultimatum to VDM, demanding a retraction and apology.
Despite these controversies, VDM remains a significant figure in Nigerian social media, known for his bold commentary and willingness to confront public figures.
