Enzo Maresca has confirmed that Chelsea defender Wesley Fofana is at risk of missing the entire season due to a significant hamstring injury.
Initially, it was thought that Fofana would be out for about five weeks, but further tests revealed the situation to be more serious than expected.
“Unfortunately, there’s a risk Wesley Fofana could be out for the entire season,” Maresca stated, emphasizing the gravity of the injury. While the full extent of the injury is still being assessed, Maresca acknowledged that Fofana's absence will be a major loss for the team.
In addition to Fofana’s setback, Maresca also confirmed that Benoit Badiashile is expected to remain sidelined until at least February due to his own injury. The combined absence of these two key defenders presents a substantial challenge for Chelsea's defensive line in the coming months.
As Chelsea prepares for their upcoming match against Crystal Palace on January 4, 2025, they will need to adjust to these defensive voids. The team will aim to recover from recent struggles and maintain momentum in the Premier League, with hopes to stay competitive despite the ongoing injury concerns.
