Dani Olmo attended Barcelona's training session today, despite the unresolved status of his registration with the club.
Olmo, who rejoined Barcelona in August 2024 on a six-year contract worth approximately €60 million, has been unable to secure permanent registration due to the club's financial constraints and LaLiga's salary cap regulations.
Initially, Olmo was granted a temporary registration, allowing him to participate in matches during the first half of the season. However, this provisional status expired on December 31, 2024. Despite Barcelona's efforts to secure his registration before the deadline, LaLiga rejected their attempts, citing non-compliance with financial regulations.
As a result, Olmo is currently ineligible to play for Barcelona and holds the option to leave as a free agent, per a clause in his contract. Nevertheless, reports indicate that Olmo remains committed to the club and is not actively seeking transfers elsewhere.
Barcelona continues to explore solutions to resolve this situation, including requesting new licenses from the Spanish Football Federation. However, LaLiga maintains that the club has not yet met the necessary financial criteria for player registrations.
This predicament has attracted attention from major European clubs, including those in the Premier League, who are monitoring Olmo's status closely. Despite the uncertainty, Olmo's presence at the training ground underscores his dedication to Barcelona as both parties work towards a resolution.
