David Datro Fofana has been recalled by Chelsea from his loan spell at Turkish club Göztepe S.K.
The 22-year-old Ivorian forward recently sustained a serious knee injury that required surgery, ruling him out for the rest of the season.
During his time at Göztepe, Fofana made nine appearances and scored two goals. With his loan spell cut short, he will now remain at Chelsea’s Cobham training facility to focus on rehabilitation. This decision also frees up an international loan slot for the club, potentially influencing future transfers.
To compensate for Fofana’s departure, Göztepe has reinforced their attack by signing 20-year-old Brazilian forward Emersonn from Athletico-PR.
Fofana joined Chelsea from Molde in January 2023 and has had previous loan spells at Union Berlin and Burnley. His return to Stamford Bridge comes as he aims to recover and reestablish himself at the club.
