Former Super Eagles defender Taye Taiwo has been honored by French Ligue 1 club Olympique Marseille with induction into the club's Hall of Fame.
Taiwo, who played for Marseille from 2005 to 2011, was a pivotal figure during his tenure, contributing significantly to the team's success.
Throughout his six-year stint, Taiwo made 271 appearances for Marseille, scoring 25 goals and providing 23 assists. His powerful left foot, defensive prowess, and attacking contributions made him a fan favorite at the Stade Vélodrome. His efforts were instrumental in helping the club secure major silverware, including the Ligue 1 title, the League Cup, and the French Super Cup.
Internationally, Taiwo earned 54 caps for Nigeria between 2004 and 2011, scoring five goals. He also had an illustrious club career, featuring for top European sides, including AC Milan and Queens Park Rangers, before retiring in 2019. Since then, the 39-year-old has settled in France.
