Hansi Flick Emphasizes Barcelona’s Identity Amid Fixture Congestion

FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick has addressed concerns regarding the team’s demanding schedule, particularly ahead of their upcoming clash against Osasuna following the international break. Despite acknowledging the challenge posed by the tight fixture list, Flick opted not to file a formal complaint, instead emphasizing the club’s resilience and commitment to competition.

"We are Barça, not Real Madrid. And I'm very proud of being Barça," Flick stated, highlighting the club’s identity and willingness to adapt. His remark appeared to be a subtle reference to Real Madrid’s past objections regarding playing matches with less than 72 hours of rest between fixtures.

While Flick accepted the scheduling constraints, he also pointed out that other leagues have taken steps to better protect their players. He expressed his hope for similar considerations to be implemented in Spain. "We're going to play, that's it. We have to accept it; it's something we can't change. They've said we have to play, and we will," he remarked, reinforcing his pragmatic approach.

Additionally, Flick suggested that FIFA could introduce measures to prevent teams from being forced to play with only two or three days of recovery time, emphasizing the importance of player welfare.

As Barcelona prepares for their next match, Flick confirmed that Ronald Araújo and Raphinha would not be available for selection due to their extensive travel commitments during the international break, which have affected their recovery.
