On March 1, 2025, President Bola Tinubu warmly welcomed Nigerian-born NFL player Moro Ojomo to the State House in Abuja, following his Super Bowl victory with the Philadelphia Eagles. Ojomo, who played a key role in the Eagles' defense, recently secured his first Super Bowl title after the team's triumph over the Kansas City Chiefs in February 2025.

Accompanied by his family, including his father Ololade, mother Bimbo, and sister Modele, Ojomo's visit marked a significant moment in celebrating Nigerian excellence on the global stage. Ojomo, who moved to the United States from Nigeria at the age of seven, has since emerged as a notable player in the NFL.

During their meeting, President Tinubu praised Ojomo for his dedication and resilience, emphasizing the importance of harnessing the potential of Nigerians abroad to contribute to the country's development. He stated, "Your drive and success can serve as an inspiration to many young people, and you can help develop the next generation of leaders."

Ojomo, reflecting on his journey, expressed his gratitude for his Nigerian roots, which he believes have shaped his work ethic and determination. "The Nigerian spirit has been a driving force behind my success," he said. "I want to show young Nigerians that with hard work and belief, they can achieve anything, no matter the odds."

The meeting also underscored Nigeria's growing presence in American football, with Ojomo encouraging more Nigerian youth to pursue the sport, which offers educational opportunities and a platform for international recognition. He highlighted the value of the sport as a means of broadening horizons and bringing global attention to Nigeria.

In addition to his visit to Aso Rock, Ojomo received further recognition in Lagos, where Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu commended his achievements as a symbol of Lagos' resilience. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, Chairperson of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), also celebrated Ojomo's success, stressing the importance of continuing to support Nigerian talent in global sports.
