Gabriel Magalhães Recuperating After Hamstring Surgery
Arsenal defender Gabriel Magalhães is currently recovering after undergoing successful surgery to treat a hamstring injury sustained during the team's 2–1 victory over Fulham on April 1.
The 27-year-old Brazilian centre-back underwent the procedure earlier this month and has now begun a structured rehabilitation program. The goal is to have him fully fit in time for the start of the 2025–26 season.
Gabriel's absence is a significant blow for Arsenal, as he has been a key figure in their defensive line, forming a strong partnership with William Saliba. His injury further compounds the club's defensive concerns, with other defenders such as Jurriën Timber, Ben White, and Riccardo Calafiori also sidelined due to various fitness issues.
Manager Mikel Arteta acknowledged the difficulty of coping with Gabriel's setback, highlighting that he is the third Arsenal player this season to undergo surgery for a hamstring-related problem, following similar issues for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli. While the injuries vary in nature, Arteta pointed to the growing challenge of managing player fitness amid a demanding fixture schedule.
Despite the setback, Arsenal has confirmed that Gabriel has already begun his recovery and rehabilitation, with plans firmly in place for a return ahead of the new season.
