Arsenal Part Ways with Marquinhos as Brazilian Winger Joins Cruzeiro on Permanent Deal Until 2028

Arsenal Football Club has officially announced the loan of Brazilian winger Marquinhos to Cruzeiro Esporte Clube for the duration of the 2025 season. The 21-year-old returns to his home country following a year-long loan at Fluminense, where he made 29 appearances across all competitions, contributing two goals and two assists.  

Since joining Arsenal from São Paulo in 2022 for a reported fee of £3 million, Marquinhos has made six appearances for the Gunners, scoring once and providing one assist. His previous loan spells include stints at Norwich City and FC Nantes.  

At Cruzeiro, Marquinhos has made an encouraging start, featuring in each of the team's initial fixtures of the 2025 season and leading the Campeonato Mineiro in successful dribbles.  

While the current agreement is structured as a loan, reports suggest that discussions between Arsenal and Cruzeiro included an obligation to buy, potentially making the move permanent. Arsenal continues to monitor Marquinhos's development during his loan spell, which is set to run until December 2025.
