Ángel Di María has officially rejoined Rosario Central, marking a poignant return to the club where his professional journey began. The 37-year-old winger, who concluded his contract with Benfica in June 2025, has signed with the Argentine club, fulfilling a long-held aspiration to finish his playing career at his boyhood club.
Rosario Central confirmed the signing with an emotional video, featuring Di María donning the club's jersey and the message, "Our story still has more pages to be written." The club's president, Gonzalo Belloso, who previously played alongside Di María at Rosario Central, played a pivotal role in facilitating the transfer .
This move comes after a previous attempt in 2024 was thwarted due to severe threats against Di María and his family, including a package containing a pig's head and a bullet, accompanied by a note threatening his daughter.
