Arsenal forward Alessia Russo has been named the Football Writers' Association (FWA) Women's Footballer of the Year for the 2024–25 season. She becomes only the second Arsenal player to receive this honor, following Vivianne Miedema in 2020.

Russo's outstanding performances this season have been pivotal for Arsenal. She scored 12 goals in the Women's Super League (WSL), tying with Manchester City's Bunny Shaw for the top scorer position. Additionally, she netted seven goals in the UEFA Women's Champions League, playing a crucial role in propelling Arsenal to the final, where they will face Barcelona on May 24.

The FWA award, determined by votes from over 900 football journalists, saw Russo emerge as a clear winner. Shaw finished second in the voting, followed by Russo's Arsenal teammate Mariona Caldentey and Chelsea defender Millie Bright. Russo and men's award winner Mohamed Salah will be honored at the FWA dinner on May 22.

This accolade adds to Russo's impressive list of achievements this season, including being named England Women's Player of the Year for 2023–24.
