Gyökeres Breaks Silence on Transfer Controversy: "I Will Speak When the Time Is Right"

Viktor Gyökeres has responded to the ongoing speculation about his future at Sporting CP, addressing recent remarks from club president Frederico Varandas. The Swedish striker dismissed much of the circulating information as inaccurate, stating, "There’s a lot of talk at the moment, most of it is false." He added, "I will speak when the time is right."

Varandas recently clarified that Sporting has not received any formal offers for Gyökeres and emphasized that the club would not yield to "blackmail and insults" during negotiations. Reports suggest that Gyökeres’ representatives believed in a gentleman’s agreement setting a transfer fee lower than his €100 million release clause. However, Varandas refuted claims that Sporting committed to a fixed price, stating that any potential sale would depend on market conditions.

Gyökeres, who has attracted interest from clubs such as Arsenal and Manchester United, is reportedly frustrated, feeling that the agreement is not being honored. Despite the tension, Sporting maintains that they will act in the club’s best interests regarding any potential transfer.
