British singer-songwriter Jessie J (real name Jessica Cornish), 37, has recently undergone surgery after being diagnosed with early-stage breast cancer in early June . She shared a deeply personal update on Instagram on June 23, offering fans an intimate glimpse into the "honest lows and highs" of her experience over the past 48 hours .
Accompanied by heartfelt photos and behind-the-scenes clips, Jessie documented her time in hospital. One touching video shows her explaining the procedure to her two-year-old son, Sky—telling him that “the water and the blood comes out of mommy’s booby… into the bottle.” Another image captures partner Chanan Safir Colman tenderly kissing her forehead before surgery .
Following surgery, Jessie is now at home, resting while waiting for the biopsy results. She expressed profound gratitude to her surgeon, nurses, family, and friends for their support and reiterated her commitment to openness: “I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through” .
Just days earlier, on June 15, Jessie performed what she called her “last show before I go and beat breast cancer” at the Summertime Ball in London’s Wembley Stadium . She then announced she’d be temporarily stepping away from the public eye to focus on her recovery and future music.
Diagnosed just weeks before releasing her April single "No Secrets," Jessie emphasized the mixed timing: “To get diagnosed … as I’m putting out a song called ‘No Secrets’ right before a song called ‘Living My Best Life’… you can’t make it up” .
Jessie’s hope-filled message concluded with words of solidarity: “Still hugging everyone going through something tough right now. We all got this!”
