Leicester City and Super Eagles midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has made a heartfelt gesture of appreciation by presenting his former U‑17 head coach, Nduka Ugbade, with a brand-new car.
Early in his career, Ndidi trained under Ugbade—himself a renowned former Nigerian international and member of the 1985 FIFA U‑17 World Cup–winning squad in China. As captured in a deeply emotional moment, Ndidi embraced Ugbade and handed over the keys to a gleaming white SUV, with the coach visibly moved by the surprise gift .
Ndidi, who began his youth career in Nigeria before moving to Belgian club KRC Genk in 2015 and joining Leicester City in 2017, has publicly acknowledged Ugbade’s crucial influence on his development .
In March 2023, Ndidi visited the Golden Eaglets' training camp in Abuja to personally reunite with Ugbade, describing him as “a very pivotal man in my football career” .
The touching video of the moment quickly went viral on social media, drawing praise from football fans and supporters. Comments included: “Nice gesture. Nduka Ugbade, that name has been on our national teams for a long time.”
